weigh in 2: January 18

Down another 2.5 pounds!

So far all I've really done is up my protein intake and try to increase my water.  I'll typically have a protein shake (1.5-2 scoops of powder and 8 oz of 2% milk for a total of about 58g of protein!!) for breakfast.  Most days of the week I'll try to get a protein bar in, too, for another 30g of protein, plus nuts, cheese, and chicken mixed in throughout the day.

I'm really going to focus on 64oz of water this week perhaps brush off the old Weight Watchers stuff.  While I am super happy with my results so far, I haven't pulled down a big week yet.  I'd love to hit 4 pounds by next Saturday to get out of the 230's.

another one bites the dust

One more pound gone!

I'll be calling tomorrow to schedule that pedicure.  =)

Woo-hoo!!! I did it (plus some)!

I lost 3 pounds this week!!!  22.5 total.  228.5 currently.  Half a pound below my goal, pre-pregnancy weight.  I feel fantastic.  =)  I'll be scheduling my (much needed, much deserved) pedicure this week.

Next stop... 215.

still a loser

I'm down another 2 pounds this week!  I was hoping for 2.5 so I would hit the 20 pound mark, but fell short.  Hopefully this week everything falls into place.   And I'm closing in on my first major goal of 229, pre-baby weight.  Once I get there, I'm going for a pedicure.  So excited!!!

holy smokes

This week's results are in:

SIX and a HALF pounds!!!  Gone.  In one week.  I dropped into the next tens place, which I love!!!  I really worked hard this week, eating my 30 Weight Watcher points, journaling everything, drinking lots of water, and eating fresh fruit and Greek yogurt for snacks to keep me feeling full longer.

So, that makes 11.5 pounds since January 1st.  Not too shabby, especially considering that I threw in the towel and gained almost everything back after just a few weeks.

I have a strong support system in place.  My best friend/sis-in-law (Brooke) is also doing WW at home with me.  She had a lighter week with a half pound loss, but that brought her to about 8 since starting a few weeks back.  And my hubby (Jamie) started tracking points this week... he had a real whopper of a weigh in -9.5 pounds.  Crazy.  If he wanted a Pepsi during the week, he'd have it, but just mark down the 3 points for it.  It's all about moderation.  There's nothing that's off limits.  You just learn to make better choices to use up your points because, heck, who wants to go to bed at 6:00 because they're out of point for the day and hungry already?  =)  My parents are also in the loop with our (me and Jamie) weight loss efforts and are very encouraging.  I called them before 8am this morning to share our exciting news!

For this coming week, I'm just going to keep going strong with what I did this week.  As long as I lose I'll be happy, but if I could set a target I'm hoping for at least -2.5 by next Sunday.

I'm a loser!

Ok, this is more like it... this week I'm a loser!  I was hoping for a little bit better of a week, but -3.5 pounds is a pretty good start.

I'm going to really make sure I drink at least 64 ounces of water.  In a perfect world, I'll be closer to 100 ounces, but in order to drink 100 I first have to do 64.  So 64 it is, and then if time allows, keep drinking.  I read somewhere that to really help with weight loss you should drink half of your weight in ounces of water.  According to that theory, I should consume 123.  That just seems like an awful lot.  I'd probably lose weight from running to the bathroom so much.

I also pulled out my old Weight Watchers materials from 2010.  I know their program changes once or twice a year, but the nuts and bolts of it stay the same.  And I know that I lost back in 2010 following the plan that they had at the time, so there's no reason it shouldn't work in 2013.

results: week two

I haven't posted because I had the most embarrassing week for anyone trying to lose weight.  I think we ate out 4 or 5 times.  And I was not making good choices.  Hello french fries and pizza.  So, I told myself that I still needed to face the music and get on the scale.  Time to start over.  I was sure I gained back all four of those pounds I lost last week.  Imagine my surprise to see this:

Seriously.  I lost another 1.5 pounds?!?!  The scale actually bounced between 244.0 and 245.5.  I stepped on and off about ten times, letting the scale turn off each time.  I tried repositioning the scale thinking maybe it was sitting funny on the bathroom floor or something.  But it kept popping up in the 244-245.5 range, so in the spirit of fairness I went with the higher number.  Crazy.

I'm down 5.5 pounds already.  I'm getting back on track today.  No more screwing around.

results: week one

I lost 4 pounds!!!

I recognize that probably all of this is simply water weight, but 4 pounds is 4 pounds.  I have realistic goals for this journey.  If I can lose 1-2 pounds a week, by my birthday in April I'd be down anywhere from 15-30 pounds, putting me somewhere between 220-235.

When I got pregnant with G and B, I was 229 on my transfer day.  My weight today is right around where I was when I was admitted to the hospital for the last time before they were born.  I only gained around 20ish pounds even with a twin pregnancy.  I lost a bit early on, dropping down to 224 before starting to gain a bit.  I started off heavy and knew that I already had a high risk pregnancy, so I couldn't go crazy with the weight gain.  I ate.  Trust me, I ate.  But I think most of it went right to baby A and baby B.  I also had crazy, ridiculous heartburn/indigestion from about week 12 or 15 through delivery.  I couldn't eat more than a few bites before feeling full since the babies were rearranging my insides to a layout more suitable for themselves.

I'm sharing all of this just to put my weight into a bit more perspective.  I'd be very pleased to get down to my pre-baby weight  of 230 or so.  I've been heavy most of my life.  I'm a big girl - 5'10" and just solidly built.  I worked so hard to rock my wedding dress back in 2005, and I looked phenomenal at 180ish.  For so many people, even that number might be shockingly high, but I looked great.  My body is most comfortable settling somewhere around 220.  I haven't been below that in probably five years.  But there is nothing physically or genetically wrong with me; I absolutely can get lower than that if I put in the effort.

I'll be back later to write up a new goal to add to my water goal for this upcoming week.  For now, I'm celebrating being 4 pounds lighter!!!  =)

I'm sick

Ugh, I have been as sick as a dog since Tuesday.  It's either a head cold or some kind of sinus thing going on.  The pressure in my face and head was beyond unbearable yesterday; I spent as much time as I could in bed while the little ones were napping.  I didn't get all of my water in yesterday, maybe around 64 ounces, but I did good on Tuesday and so far today.  One up side to being under the weather is that I've lost my appetite.  I really can't smell or taste anything.

I did hop on the scale this morning, and it popped up with 247.5.  Now, I know no one can lose three and a half pounds of fat in just two day.  It's all water weight.  And since I haven't been eating like I usually do, we'll see what next Tuesday's actual weigh in holds.

let's do this

As I bid a fond farewell to 2012, a year that was pretty good to me and my family and get ready to welcome 2013 and all it holds, I'm doing what most people will be doing in the next day... trying to give myself some direction for the new year.  I hate writing new year's resolutions.  I have good intentions but have a hard time sticking to them.  So last year I wrote up just a couple of goals in the following categories - financial, household, mommy, and ((drumroll please)) weight loss.

::sigh:: I've have weight loss goals, dreams, resolutions, aspirations, whatever for as long as I can remember.  The only exception would have been for 2011, as I was just a few weeks pregnant with my long awaited miracle twins!  All I cared about that year was keeping my babies safe and healthy and inside growing for as long as I could.  It took my hubby and me three heartbreaking years of battling infertility before we were blessed with our daughter (G) and son (B).  They are my world.  The reasons why I wake up in the morning.  My reasons for living.  The 2 best reasons for everything I do in life.  And my motivation for wanting to be healthier and lose weight, to be here for them for the long haul.

In just a few days my babies will be 18 months.  I weigh more now than I did when I had them at 34 weeks.

It's time for a change.  It's time to do something about it.

And so my journey begins...
